Spiritual science - an introduction
Modern natural sciences come to the limits of presupposed
objectivity. Quantum physics has discovered that one of the parameters
with a laboratory experiment is the observer himself. A dialogue between
Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein can make this clear. Bohr disagreed with
Einstein’s hypothesis of light speed, upon which base he had grounded
theory of relativity. He therewith started with an experiment wherewith
a smallest parcel of light, a light quant, if it could make a choice between
two openings to fall through, it would behave differently, being in such
a way that it should react to this choice. According to Einstein this
was impossible, considering the hypothesis of the unequivocalness of the
event. The light quant would choose either the one or the other opening.
Later on it showed out that such an experimental design causes that the
one and only light quantum is behaving as if it interfered with another,
non-present one: a photographic layer behind this double opening shows
an interference (wavelike) pattern instead of a point which normally one
single lightquant would cause. Which actually undermines the hypothesis
of the speed of light; the light already knew of that choice before it
started to dislocate. Likewise our consciousness can transport to the
spot on Earth to where we direct ourselves. Light and consciousness are
similar, and timeless.
Other sciences, like behavioural sciences as well try out the liens between
the soul and the spirit with matter, to connect these with the common
way of science practice (for instance transpersonal psychology, morphogenetic
behavioural fields in. Rupert Sheldrake’s theories amongst others).
Especially in coaching projects within concerns and organisations the
transmitting power of man to man has already been known for a longer time,
and there are elaborated methods to make more conscious the inner qualities
of the soul and as well to improve these individually.
When we consider more closely the spiritual good, inherited from ancient
Greece, and apply it to modern development of consciousness, as Anthroposophy
has done, we can develop a true science which incorporates the spirit,
the soul and the life body. It then becomes to a spiritual science. This
predominantly works with methods of characterising, which in outlines
is called phenomenology or Goethean Science (initially worked out by Goethe).
This characterising is because one involves the soul in it, and this is
being constructed out of objective workings from the entire surrounding
cosmos, but elaborates this in a subjective way. Through observing oneself
in the observations, one can however learn to educate and as well transform
oneself in such a way that one learns to observe the objective realities
through this. That is called scholing. An advantage to the common useful
scientific methods is that with observing and acting one transforms and
sublimates oneself, which may cause one to develop more refined inner
organs for objectivation.
When one draws into this the original science, star knowledge and wisdom,
pne can come to clarifying insights about the observations one can have
with the normal senses and observational instruments as extensions of
these. There join deeper dimensions, which one can test again by experiment.
It is nonsense to assume with this that one ends up in a belief. The only
assumption one can take with this, is whether one wants to find the sense
of a phenomenon. What one then can find, tells as much over oneself, ones
relation to the phenomenon, as about the phenomenon under investigation
itself.
About
astrosophy, the new star wisdom
Astrosophy consists of three levels:;
* Astrosophy as
a path to imagination
* Astrophony
as a means to develop inspiration
* Astrognomy
as a means to develop intuition through
acts and observations
At the base of this works stands a search quest to
the workings of the World word all through the life world of formative
forces. A starting point to this, as partly has been developed by own
inner spiritual experiences and their testing to reality, is knowledge
about man in all his corporalities and the connection with these to the
workings of the higher angel beings upon man out of the stars and planets.
This has been given form in the astrosophy, the new star science, and
its further outworkings and applications in astrophony
and astrognomy.
Astrosophy is a form of astronomy which takes
into consideration the four bodies of man an their anchoring in the four
natural realms of fire, air, water and earth, as well as their connections
to the star images and planets. It starts with anthroposofical points
of view, which are being tested by means of newly developed methods of
research of phenomenology (goethean science), and thus are being enriched
with new results of research.
Astrophony is an outworking of the star and
planet workings in man which can be approached in sound, music and rhythm.
Research has been done by means of singing improvisation, and as well
the results of research are being applied in compositions, that are performed
when possible. Singing opens the soul for the observations of higher worlds,
wherewith one connects through singing. Furthermore there has been elaborated
a music theory that indicates coherences between musical laws and the
workings out of planets and zodiacal signs, as these express themselves
in the human constitution.
Astrognomy is a further elaboration which tries
to approach and investigate the astrosophic and astrophonic starting points
in organic design by means of clay modeling . Each act, accomplished by
man, his attitude, feeling and gesture, are expressions of the absorbed
workings of stars and planets and the beings that are active through these.
This is investigated by means of formgiving, within man and in the phenomena.
A starting point for these forms of research is the phenomenology of Goethe
or Goethean Science. It consists of four steps. At first the observation.
Second the letting it become to and inner archetype of the idea or ideas
behind the observed phenomenon by thinking this over clearly. Third the
thinking aside of this archetype, to be able to observe it in its inner
metamorphosis as a process of development. Fourth the discovery of the
sense in the phenomenon as it occurs as a willing manifestation. Predominantly
the last two steps, those of the search for the inner guidance in processes
of metamorphosis, and the one about the sense giving, are being investigated
within astrophony and astrognomy. Astrosophy tries to come to an imaginative
insight of the planet and star workings in the phenomena (in accordance
with the second step). With astrophony and astrognomy are connected the
steps of inspiration and intuition (clear feeling and clear willing) respectively
as a work for development.
Within this muster there is primarily being worked out of artistic research,
not directly out of thinking formation, although the insights out of Anthroposophy
about the connections between man and cosmos are being taken as a subject
with the posing of research questions. The entrance via the feelings and
art are connected to the progressing development, wherewith now the path
via the heart with the feelings has become directly accessible. Jaspis
gives courses and coaching in the layers of consciousness mentioned, and
calls research after the inner guidance, the learning to live in into
the conductive processes, Objective Art. The
doctrine to observe the willing germ of phenomena, in other beings and
within oneself, and to be able to develop it, is being called Moral
Technics. Communal singing and clay modeling are appropriate
means to find an access to the inner guidance and the observation of willing
germs, because they connect the observer directly with the phenomena and
have these experienced in and through the soul. The foreweork to this
has been done by N.M. de Jong.
If one applies the elements as has been described above to a birth horoscope,
then one can obtain of it the following insights.
An astrosophical horoscope
This gives indications about temperament, soul type,
constitution and karmic lines besides points of weight, weaknesses and
unilateralities of different organs and corporalities, connected to the
fate. As well the world vision, the way in which out of his kernel one
observes and assimilates the world, and the virtues to be developed and
ideals to be realized can be traced back.
Astrosophy means that the star wisdom is being related to man; man has
been created by the divine beings, which dwell in the planet and star
spheres, as a spirit being that has to be developed between the other
ones.
Before birth man makes the decisions to give direction and sense to his
life in a specific way which belongs to his own life task and soul qualities
taken with. Herewith, together with the angels, he gives shape to his
being in personality structure, temperament, organ workings, constitution
and body shapes. This precipitates in the position of stars and planets
at birth.
A horoscope out of astrosophical points of view tries to bring to the
front the prenatal decision and the expression of this in his corporalities
and body parts. Thus there is being offered to the person a memory image
out of which he can take at hard moments and decisions to be made. There
can also be traced with sicknesses or the dominance of a specific process
the background out of which it has developed. This as a help for medical
diagnosis and therapy to choose.
For developmental purposes is furthermore important that the places of
the fixed star images (outside the Zodiac) give indications about the
ideals one has taken with, and the houses in which these fall, indicate
the life regions in which one wants to realize these ideals. See under
sculptures those of the star images.
Some astrosophical tools:
* A birth horoscope is a reflection of how the earth
is standing in relation to the zodiac and the palets in it (here are being
considered the star signs in stead of the images of the zodiac). Therein
we can distinguish the following:
Sun in sign - the world vision of our individualitie,
our ego
Planets in signs - indicate soul qualities, the being more or less shaped
of our soul limbs
Planets mutual (aspects) - soul talents and -conflicts
Houses - different life realms, so the directedness of our life body (spheres
of interests)
Planet in house - a soul quality which expresses in one of the life regions,
all through the organ proces in charge
House rulership of a planet - life region in which a talent or constitutional
weakness expresses itself
Ascendant -temperament
Ruler of the Ascendant (or a planet in or in connection with this) - constitution,
soul type
* Furthermore ther is the following hierarchical ordering within a horoscope:
Zodiacal sign - spirit in soul world
Planet in sign - soul colouring of spiritual quality, mediated through
that sign
House - reflection of the life world, also of the earth
Planet in house - body organ of that planet
* The temperament begets the following colouring according
to the elements (mostoften the sign upon the horizont; furthermore the
place of the ruler of the Ascendant in sign and house):
Choleric – fire
Sanguinic – air
Flegmatic – water
Melancholic – earth
Astrophony
Our fate is woven into the tissues with the construction
of our body during pregnancy. This happens on the base of sound; the singing
of the gods. The planets transmit the sounds of the Zodiac, in a way transformed
by themselves, to the developing embryonic man, which in this way builds
up his body as coagulated, stilled sound. During birth this comes to an
end; the stars and planets impress themselves in the brains, on which
base the person develops on until about his 21st year.
The musical elements we know from music, being the musical motive of a
piece of music which dresses itself in intervals that belong to tones
and are connected to a tonality, the rhythm and the measure type, are
reflections of our bodies, on a sequence the spirit (willing impulse as
idea force; musical motive), the soul (interval colourings as feeling
objectivations, of tones within a tonality), the life body (the rhythmical
divisions), and the physical body (the measure type as a reflection of
the rhythmical planet dance around the earth).
Of the birth horoscope as the objective reflection of these workings of
fate which have been stilled until in the tissues, there can be made a
composition in which each position apart and in mutual connection can
be made experiencable as a quality and a part of the area of tension within
the soul; and this in mentioned tonality-sound space, the musical motive,
te measure type and the metrum, the rhythmical differentiation of this.
A starting point to this is an artistically created image of the inner
landscape, in which each planet position in sign and house is being described
as a separate force within the painting taken from nature.
The birth horoscope is considered hereby as a reflection
of the forces within the soul that build up the body all through the life
realms. Of this there can be put up an artistic image in the form of a
poem of which the contents are taken from nature; as an inner landscape
which is a reflection of those soul forces. Each planet position is approached
as a force that interacts with other forces in this landscape (representing
aspecting planets). The rhythms of the planets in their position come
in this to an expression as an approach of the organ and orther life rhythms
that occur within man, upon which base his is soul functions. Thus arises
an objective approach of this interplay of forces, along which one can
deepen in a meditative way in the own soul movings as a help to self knowledge.
The parts of the horoscope can be sang, separate and in communal singing,
supported by lyre and eventually flute play, wherewith their effects within
the soul can be experienced. This can happen within a group, wherewith
the participants take up each the musical motive of one planet position
and sinb this in-living in an improvisational way to those that represent
aspecting planets.
For the participants this gives a possibility to deepen themselves in
the astrosophical realities in a musical-imaginative way.
A horoscope in sound and rhythm can also be transposed into musical script,
and be played with lyra and flute. This gives tools for self investigation
and scholing, because one via this way one can learn to objectivate the
working of the own feeling contents and willing impulses (which are being
indicated by the houses).
This approach out of images taken from nature guarantees for the one involved
that the horoscope in its parts cannot be explained or applied in a personal
way.
STAR and SOUND
Everyone is built up of the sounds that work out of
the spheres of stars and planets. These sounds are sung to us during pregnancy,
and out of them we form our being. The sounds fade down in us and become
finally recognizable in the features of our posture. They are imprinted
in our bodies as the letters of the cosmic Word, that are to be found
everywhere in nature in crystals, plants and animals, but that come into
a grand composition within the human posture.
Every human has one or more of these letters, expressed in the form of
its gestures, which he represents in particular. These are his, inherent
to his own being, and are bound up closely with the personal fate he has
to undergo on earth. These form-gestures, impelling the sounds of the
letters, we find back in an objective way in the movements of the planets
towards each other and in the forms and positions of the zodiacal star
images at the time of birth.
The sounds that emanate from the spheres of planets and stars, called
the harmonies of the spheres, are deaf and dumb for the present consciousness
of man. To make them sound again, string instruments have been developed
that posses the inner construction taken from the form-gestures of the
star images; sonic sculptures have been developed that attempt to approach
the vowel-like sounds, impelled by the planets. By means of the inner
sound spaces of these instruments the attempt is made to render the cosmic
Word audible again.
In order to again experience in music the specific harmonies of the spheres
for a person, a form of astrosophy has been developed, with the aid of
the tools of anthroposophy (the fourfold human body), by which the individual
fate of a man can become visible, and the ramifications of this in his
temperament, constitution, specific soul-configuration and individual
world vision, as well as his possibilities to develop in soul and spirit.
Out of this a method has been developed to bring the specific sounds of
the cosmic harmony at the moment of birth to sound in music and rhythm
(years of spiritual research have been spent to come to these conclusions,
which have been written down in a series of theoretical books and musical
theatre plays, as well as a number of compositions on this basis). Both
vowels and consonants as sonic spaces and principles are presently applied
in lyres and violins that are constructed on personal requests based on
personal prevalence and mostly read from the horoscope. These are made
out of one or more of the seven types of wood from trees that each represent
a particular planetary effect through its inner qualities; these are:
cherry-tree, elm, birch, ash, oak, maple and beech.
When one makes tones and intervals sound in a space
with loose small particles, these will move into places where there is
the least movement of air. Thus geometrical figures arise, forming a negative
print of the sounds that brought the space into vibration (so-called Chladni
figures). Every sound, tone, interval creates a specific form in matter.
Thus one can imagine how by organizing sounds all earthly forms are created
(note: the forms appear at places where there is the least sound).
For the construction of the Rune
instruments and
sonic sculptures it worked the other way around. It was tried to imagine
which form as a space or working principle creates an intended sound.
Thus imagination becomes servant to the ability of sensing the forces
that produce certain sounds, and experience them afterwards. This especially,
while the sounds of the words, the letters, do not work geometrically
in forms, but rather in chaos i.e. dynamic, working out of sense rather
than mere effect. This is a difference between soul- and spiritual level.
Thus one has to become active in soul and spirit to condense the sense-filled
sonic forces into form-principles. Going this direction it becomes possible
to find the way back to cosmic forces through experience, because one
is enabled to open up new inner organs.
Astrognomy
Out of us come impulses that are coloured by feelings
and that show themselves in the consciousness as our thought contents,
which may put us into motion. A deed at first is being thought over mostoften
and being overseen in its consequences more or less; it is being tested
to our ideals, however high or low these may be, and after this we try
to execute our thought content. This always happens with some effort and
pain when it deals about as new willing decision, because we first have
to develop the right inner attitude, all through the resistances (inwardly
and in the outern world), and next the faculties.
The impulses that form the base of our thoughts and feelings, occur in
an objectivated way in the forms of the animals. Our ideals come to an
image in the flower forms; the way in which a plant enfolds itself, each
one on his own specific way, shows us the right soul attitude possible
and the virtual gesture to be developed to bring forth the flower from
its germ. Plants are our objectivated conscience.
The willing impulses are being led down in us in the life body, find their
precipitation in the muscles (the proteins in these), and are being directed
by the organs and driven up to the head when necessary, wherewith they
mostly at first come through the feeling, seizing at the heart, and make
us aware of them. The horoscope makes it possible to become conscious
of these willing impulses in the life body and through the organs; astrophony
can bring these to life in sound and rhythm on the base of the star and
planet effects, transposed insound (see above). When we want to become
aware of the feelings and willing impulses, we can try to model these
out in gesturing sculptures in clay. We then objectivate what lives in
our will and can make us more conscious about this a next time. So modeling
out leads to a deeper insight in oneself, and gives tools to observe into
the will. This is possible with the rhythmical poem, or the horoscope,
transposed in sound and rhythm.
The ideals coming out of the star images, one can also investigate specifically
when these are being transposed in sound and rhythm, after which one tries
to model out the occuring willing gestures. After this one can try to
trace which virtues one has to develop to work out those ideals; that
can also be done in clay models. In this way one shows to the own life
body which form gestures it has to make in order to develop specific higher
faculties, which slumber on the lotus flowers.
These are directe scholing methods, which at best can be done under the
guidance of an experienced teacher.
The open atelier, in Zutphen and in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), are possible
spots to that.
The backgrounds of these forms of star knowledge have been worked out
in several Rune books.
